Notice is hereby given that the annual fire inspection for 2023/2024 school year of the Valley Stream 24 for fire hazards which might endanger the lives of students, teachers, employees therein, was completed in February of 2023 and the report thereof is available at the District Office Facilities Department for inspection by all interested parties.
Lead testing In School Drinking Water
In compliance with the New York State Department of Health (NYS DOH) regulation Lead Testing in School Drinking Water (10 NYCRR Subpart 67-4), the school district recently completed an updated inventory of all water outlets and conducted a new round of water sampling. This follows previous testing conducted in 2016 and 2020.
The sampling of potable water outlets, those used for drinking or cooking, was carried out by our environmental consulting and testing firm. Additionally, as a precaution, the district also tested non-potable water outlets, which are not designated for drinking or cooking. While these outlets are rarely used for drinking, testing was performed to address the unlikely scenario that a child might use them for this purpose.
In accordance with state regulations, any outlets showing lead concentrations above New York State's action level of 5 parts per billion will be out of service or otherwise restricted. Any such outlet would remain out of use until appropriate remediation measures are completed.
